Rung is a daily word ladder game. This policy explains exactly what Rung collects and why. In short: we store your sign-in name and email and your puzzle solve history so your progress syncs across your devices, we show ads to support the free game, and we never sell your personal information.

1. Introduction

Oraya LLC ("Oraya," "we," "us," or "our") publishes Rung, a daily word ladder game (the "App"). This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, store, and protect your information when you use the App or visit its pages on our website at orayaus.com (together, the "Services").

By using the Services, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy. Your use of the Services is also governed by our Terms of Service. If you do not agree with our practices, please do not use the Services.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide When You Sign In

Rung requires an account so your progress can sync across devices. When you sign in with Sign in with Apple or Google Sign-In, we collect:

  • Name and email address as provided by Apple or Google. If you use Sign in with Apple and choose to hide your email, we receive only Apple's private relay address.
  • A unique account identifier created for your account by our authentication provider.

We do not receive or store your Apple or Google password. Authentication is handled by those providers.

2.2 Gameplay Data

To deliver the game and sync your progress, we collect and store:

  • Solve history: which daily puzzles you have completed, the path (rungs) you took, the number of moves, badges earned, dates, and timestamps.
  • Statistics and streaks: derived figures such as your current streak, best results, and puzzle numbers.
  • Purchases and entitlements: a record of in-app purchases you own (for example, ad removal, the puzzle archive, or hint packs), used to restore your entitlements. Payments are processed by Apple; we do not receive your card details.

2.3 Information Collected Automatically

  • Device and usage information: device type, operating system version, app version, language, general region, and crash or diagnostic data used to keep the App stable.
  • Advertising identifiers: if you grant permission, an advertising identifier (IDFA) may be used by our advertising partner to show and measure ads. See Section 5.

2.4 Data Stored Only on Your Device

Some data, including your local settings and a cached copy of recent results used by the home and lock screen widgets, is stored on your device. Deleting the App removes this local data.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • Provide the game: to deliver daily puzzles, record your solves, calculate streaks and badges, and sync your progress across your devices.
  • Account management: to create and maintain your account and restore your purchases.
  • Advertising: to display ads that keep the core game free, including optional rewarded ads you can choose to watch in exchange for hints.
  • Improvement and stability: to understand how the App is used in aggregate, fix bugs, and improve features.
  • Security and legal: to protect against fraud and abuse and to comply with applicable law.

4. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in the following limited circumstances:

  • Service providers: we use trusted providers to operate the App. These include Supabase (authentication and cloud database that stores your account and solve history), Google AdMob (advertising), and Apple (Sign in with Apple, App Store purchases, and Game Center if you choose to use it). These providers process data only to provide their services to us.
  • Legal requirements: we may disclose information where required by law or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Oraya, our users, or the public.
  • Business transfers: if Oraya is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
  • Aggregated or de-identified data: we may share data that cannot reasonably be used to identify you.

5. Advertising and Ad Identifiers

Rung is free and supported by ads served through Google AdMob. Ads may include banner, interstitial, and optional rewarded formats. If you purchase "Remove Ads," banner and interstitial ads are turned off.

App Tracking Transparency (iOS): before any tracking that uses your device's advertising identifier (IDFA), iOS will ask for your permission. If you decline, you will still see ads, but they will be non-personalized. You can change this choice anytime in your device Settings.

Consent (EEA, UK, and certain US states): where required, we present a consent or privacy message through Google's User Messaging Platform so you can choose how your data is used for advertising. Google AdMob's handling of data is described in Google's Privacy Policy at policies.google.com/privacy.

6. Data Storage, Security, and Retention

Your account and solve history are stored in our cloud database hosted by Supabase, protected by row-level security so that your records are accessible only to your authenticated account. We use encryption in transit (TLS) and apply commercially reasonable safeguards. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

We retain your account information and solve history for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete this data as described in Section 8, subject to any retention required by law.

7. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information, and to opt out of certain processing.

  • Access and portability: you may request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
  • Deletion: you may delete your account and associated data at any time from within the App (see Section 8).
  • Advertising choices: you may decline app tracking and reset or limit ad personalization in your device Settings.

California (CCPA/CPRA): California residents have the right to know, delete, correct, and opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

EEA, UK, and Switzerland (GDPR): you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection. Our legal bases include your consent, performance of our contract with you (the Terms of Service), and our legitimate interests in operating and improving the Services. You may lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

8. Deleting Your Account

You can permanently delete your Rung account and all associated data at any time from within the App, under Settings, then Delete account. This action is irreversible. It removes your account, your synced solve history, statistics, and profile information from our servers.

If you are unable to access the App and wish to delete your account, email us at support@orayaus.com from the email address associated with your account and we will process your request.

9. "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information"

Oraya does not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We have not sold or shared personal information in the preceding twelve (12) months. To exercise any applicable rights, contact us at support@orayaus.com.

10. Children's Privacy

Rung is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under that age. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take prompt steps to delete it.

11. International Data Transfers

Oraya is based in the United States. If you use the Services from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States or other countries where our service providers operate, which may have different data protection laws. Where required, we implement appropriate safeguards.

12. Third-Party Services

The App relies on third-party services including Supabase, Google AdMob, Apple (Sign in with Apple, App Store, Game Center), and Google Sign-In. Your use of those services is also subject to their own privacy policies. This Privacy Policy does not apply to third-party services, and we are not responsible for their practices.

13. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Effective Date" above and may notify you through the App or by other reasonable means. Your continued use of the Services after a revised policy is posted constitutes your acceptance of the changes.
